Waruro´s Waterfall
ITINERARY
Day 1: Arequipa - Cabanaconde – Llahuar
We pick you up from your hotel at 5:30 am and drive to the town of Cabanaconde, about 6 hours away. We arrive at Cabanaconde approximately 12:00 midday and have lunch.
1:00pm. Start trekking from Cabanaconde (3,300m) through the bullfight field and visit the Achachiwa lookout, where Colca Canyon can be observed and also the trail we take to Llahuar Lodge. We trek down into the canyon with magnificent views of the villages, terraces, and River Colca below. After we reach the river at the bottom, we cross some suspension bridges and then we have the wonderful experience of appreciating the small Geyser that’s located opposite the river.
5:00pm. Arrive at Llahuar Lodge (2,020m),enjoy the hot springs (30º C), and admire the geological landscapes. We will also have opportunity to try trout fishing from the side of the Colca River.
At night we will have dinner and sleep in the bungalows made of reed.
Day 2: Llahuar - Waruro´s Waterfall
7:00am. Breakfast. We trek out of Llahuar on the way to Fure (3500m), where we discover the magnificent waterfall (75 m. high). The trek takes four hours but it is really worth it and you will never regret it.
Along the way, there is a variety of typical wild plants near Llatica and Fure that is really fascinating, during and after the rainy season. We arrive at Fure village around at midday for lunch at the house of a local family.
At 1pm. We start the walk up to Waruro´s waterfall. Around this natural beauty, beside of the Waruro River, we take a short rest to appreciate the wild flowers and other plants. Then we return to the family home in Fure, for dinner and to sleep overnight.
Day 3: Fure – Oasis Sangalle
7:00am. After breakfast, we trek out of Fure to Oasis Sangalle for 4 hours. During the trekking we see amazing landscapes of the mountains, different sorts of wild plants, and the most impressive view of the Canyon from the Apacheta lookout.
We arrive at Oasis Sangalle about 12:00 midday, which has bungalows that are typical of the place. We have lunch in the shade near the beautiful pool and gardens. After we are accommodated in our bungalows, we have the chance to bathe at the refreshing volcanic water swimming pools (16º C) and take a walk in the area to see the tropical vegetation.
At night, after dinner, we relax around the campfire and then sleep overnight.
Day 4: Oasis Sangalle - Cabanaconde - Condor´s Cross – Arequipa
3.00am. We depart from the Oasis of Sangalle, taking the trail to Cabanaconde. We enjoy the wonderful sensation of walking under the stars and moonlight and then the magical experience of being on the trail in the canyon as the sun rises between the mountains. The trek takes approximately 3.5 hours.
6:30am.We arrive in Cabanaconde and have an enjoyable breakfast. Then we travel to the Condor´s Cross viewpoint to see the spectacle of these mystic birds, flying above us, as well, we see the deep section of the canyon and then continue on to Chivay. We have lunch in Chivay. We also have an optional visit to the therapeutic hot springs of La Calera where you can enjoy a relaxing swim to soothe your muscles after your morning trek. Then we go back to Arequipa city.
Transfer to your hotel and end of our service.

Summary
Colca Canyon Trek to Waruro´s Waterfall
Join us on this wonderful trek into Colca Canyon, recognized by the Guinness Book of Records in 1986 as the deepest Canyon in the world, at over 13,000m deep. On this trek, we have magnificent views of the canyon, pre-Incan terraces, Colca River and enjoy the beautiful Waruro Waterfall. We trek through local villages and stay and dine with a local family for one night and can enjoy swimming in pools. On day 4 we have an exciting trek up the Canyon starting at 3am so we can experience the sensation of trekking under the stars and see the sun rising through the mountains. We have breakfast in the charming village of Cabanaconde and then travel to the Condor´s Cross viewpoint to see the magnificent Condors soaring over the Canyon. On the trip back to Arequipa we stop at Chivay for a relaxing swim in the therapeutic thermal baths and lunch. Be aware that we trek to 3500m so you need to be prepared or acclimatised for this altitude.
